From part-time courses such as an Introduction to Computing and IT level to full–time courses such as HND in Computing, the School of Computing and IT has the course to suit your needs.

Part-time Courses

Across four campuses the School of Computing and IT delivers part-time courses in a range of subjects from purely recreational, such as how to become familiar with using a digital camera and processing and manipulating the image, to courses with more of an industrial bias such as the City & Guilds in System Support and Network Administration.

Also on offer are the courses, such as Computer Software Levels 1/2/3 that allow the complete beginner to progress to a Level 3 qualification gaining valuable experience in word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, DTP, presentation graphics and use of the Internet. A very popular course is the European Computer Driving Licence which can be also undertaken on a distance learning basis.

These courses are delivered in the daytime, evening and on Saturday morning.

Full-time Courses

Aimed at the student who wants to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Computing and IT these courses are delivered over two campuses with a range of entry levels from GNVQ Foundation in Computing and IT, to HND in Computing.

The full-time courses also include the Applied A Level in Computing and IT, A Level in Computing and A Level in IT. The majority of our students progress to Higher Education gaining a degree or HND.

Resources

Up-to-date hardware and software are used in the School with all PCs having Internet access in a state-of-the-art Electronic Learning Centre. Software such as the Macromedia suite is used extensively. PC construction and network development are carried out in bespoke laboratories.
