More about Leeds Castle Triathlon

Sprint Tri - 24th June 2017

Swim - 750m
The swim will start in waves depending on participant numbers. You will enter the water via the newly formed beach. It is a clockwise swim in the moat where all swimmers will pass under the castle through either of the ancient arches. The sprint swim is one lap of 750 metres and you will exit the water where you entered. Once out of the water, there is a short run to Transition where your bike is racked and after a quick change, you will head out onto the bike course.

Cycle - 26k
The bike course follows a route from the main carpark and onto the A20 from the exit between the Gatehouses. Once on the A20, Maidstone-bound, you will do a U-turn on the roundabout and head towards Charing. It is an undulating course, regularly used for time-trialling and in the right weather conditions, very fast. Once you reach the next roundabout at Charing you will again U-turn to head back along the A20, until you reach the rear of the Castle where you will re-enter the grounds via the Broomfield Gate. You will descend through the golf course towards the Castle, before passing in front of the Castle doors and straight back into Transition to rack your bike and complete the 26km cycle course.

Run - 5k
On the run course you head towards the Upper Parkland, taking in spectacular views of the Castle on a challenging cross country run route. There will be marshals and aid-stations around the course to help you. This will be one lap of 5kms, where upon you will continue straight past transition to finish in the middle of the expo. Upon crossing the finish line you will receive a medal, a finishers t-shirt and some well-earned refreshments.
