Woodside Plant Centre & Birdhouse Tearoom

Woodside Plant Centre & Birdhouse Tearoom is an independently-owned, family-run business set in a beautiful Victorian walled garden in the Scottish Borders.

Open every day of the year, except Christmas and Boxing Day, and 1st and 2nd January.

Our Plant Centre has a variety of plants, gardening equipment and a gift section. We source our plants locally whenever possible to minimise our carbon-footprint, and to ensure they are hardy enough to survive the weather! If you have any gardening questions or queries, feel free to email, message or pop in to see us.

The Birdhouse Tearoom is a friendly, warm place to enjoy a snack, lunch or just a cup of tea. In the summer, sit out in the garden and enjoy the sun, or if the weather isn't so nice, sit inside and warm yourself by the fire and watch the birds on the window feeders. On Friday evenings, come in to enjoy a 3-course evening meal prepared by our award-winning chef. Reservations can be made by giving us a call.

Within the walled garden, you won't just find the plant centre and the tearoom. We have an RSPB Wildlife Garden, complete with pond and information centre. Borders Organic Gardeners have set up a Composting Demonstration. The garden is a work in progress, featuring new displays like our Stumpery, but also ancient features like the Victorian apple trees that line the path.

There are some beautiful walks nearby. We're close to Harestanes Visitor Centre and the Waterloo Monument. Walkers, cyclists and dogs are welcome (just please keep the latter on a lead).
