Wisdom Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive holistic therapy which works on specific points on the feet known as 'reflexes'. These reflexes reflect the organs and structures of the body as well a person's emotional health and so it might be said that the feet are like 'mini maps' or 'microcosms' of the body.

Reflexology works by applying finger or thumb pressure to specific reflex points or meridians on the feet.

The meridian therapy of reflexology is based on traditional Chinese medicine which suggests that 'life force' energy flows through the body in energy pathways called meridians. It is held that congestion in a meridian may indicate an imbalance in the body. There are 14 major meridians in the body, 12 of which either begin or end in the hands and feet. Reflexologists can apply pressure to points on these meridians encouraging improved energy flow, balance and the body's natural ability to heal itself.
