Winchester Wine Appreciation Society

The Winchester Wine Appreciation Society is the South of England’s premier wine society which has been running for over 30 years.

We are a group of over 50 members, including enthusiasts and small buyers, who come from a wide area of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire. We would like to think that we are influencers of the buying patterns of a much wider group. Each year the program tries to cover a wide range of geographies and styles of wine.

A few of the wide variety of winemakers and estate owners who have lead tastings include: Michel Laroche of Domaines Laroche, Chablis; Jean-Lin Dalle of Chateau de Campuget, Nimes; Danie De Wet of De Wetshof Estates, South Africa; Ed Sbragia of Beringer, Napa Valley; John White of Fetzer, Mendicino; Sandro Boscaini of Masi, Verona.

In addition, we have had speakers who are key figures in leading UK distributors, plus experts and writers such as Clive Coates, Maggie McNie, John Radford and Steven Spurrier.

We hold regular monthly tastings, typically on the second Monday of the month, in the Wykeham Suite of the Wessex Hotel, located in the heart of Winchester close to the cathedral. These start at 20.00 and finish approximately 22.00 hrs.
