More about Wimbledon Healing Centre - The NFSH Healing Trust

Spiritual Healing is a natural energy therapy that complements conventional medicine by treating the whole person - mind, body, emotion and spirit.

The Healing Trust is the new working name of The NFSH Charitable Trust Ltd (Charity No 1094702). Our pan-denominational organisation is the largest and oldest membership organisation of Spiritual Healers in the UK. Founded in 1954, we strive to raise the standards and awareness of Healing in the UK and overseas by providing:
• National standards of training delivered by accredited trainers
• A minimum 2 years’ training period with national standards of final assessment
• Professional Code of Conduct, disciplinary procedures, professional insurance
• Over 50 Healing Centres throughout the UK, staffed by volunteer members
• Accreditation of independent voluntary centres that meet Healing Trust standards

History

Spiritual Healing has been practised for many years by different groups and individuals throughout the UK. In the middle of the last century, in 1954 to be precise, there was created what has since become the UK's largest professional Healing organisation, The Healing Trust. Coming originally into being as The National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NFSH), the organisation was founded on the initiative of one John Britnell. Nationally renowned Healer, Harry Edwards, was recorded as Member No 1 and the NFSH offices came to be based at his home at Burrows Lea, near Guildford. Harry Edwards was to remain President of NFSH until 1973.

A major turning point came for NFSH in 1960, when Chairman Gordon Turner persuaded the medical authorities to allow Spiritual Healers to give Healing in hospitals.

By 1974 the rapid growth of overseas membership inspired the NFSH President to create The World Federation of Healing. NFSH wanted to retain its national identity separately but readily sponsored WFH’s inaugural conference in London
