Western and Oriential Fighting Arts

WOFA instructs in two main martial arts in a safe, friendly and family oriented atmosphere. The first of these arts is Japanese Ju Jitsu-the art of the samural warrior. The in-depth and thorough syllabus contains throwing and locking applications, escapes from varies holds, as well as the more traditional punching and kicking techniques. Ju Jitsu is taught separately to both adults and child classes.

WOFA's second martial art on offer is perhaps lesser known amongst the general public and is the Filipino art of Kali. Although to some, Kali might appear to be just a knife and stick fighting art, to the initial surprise and admiration of many a new student, they quickly discover it has so much more to offer. Filipino Martial Arts," or FMA) emphasizes weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives and other bladed weapons, and various improvised weapons. It also includes hand-to-hand combat, joint locks, grappling and weapon disarming techniques.

WOFA sadly recognises the fact that in todays society the carrying of knifes is all to common an occurrence. Kali, amongst its many other attributes, offers a unique and realistic insight in how to deal with this threat should it arise.
WOFA only teaches Kali to the age group 16 and over. Unlike the Ju Jitsu classes that range from 6 to 60 plus. You will be made very welcome, so why not accept our offer of a free trial lesson in the art of your choosing. You will learn something useful whilst getting fit and enjoying making a whole lot of new friends. Classes are currently being held at the Eversley Leisure Centre, Pitsea, Essex. Childrens classes in Ju Jitsu are from 7pm till 8pm mondays. Adults classes are from 8pm till 10pm mondays and thursdays.
