FAQ

Do I have to pay to watch at auction? No, it is a public auction and anybody can either watch a sale in progress or attend a non sale day at their own leisure. You do not have to register in order to bid.

How do I bid/buy at auction? Simply catch the auctioneer’s attention by raising your hand, he will look back at you to bid again thereafter. Ensure you have the deposit first.

What deposit do I need to buy at auction? A £200 cash deposit is required immediately on the fall of the hammer, and full payment is to be made by 12 noon the following day (unless prior arranged), at which time you may collect your vehicle. Failure to collect by this time will result in a late payment fee based on a daily charge of £20 per day UNLESS OTHERWISE AGREED.

What is a provisional sale? A provisional sale is the last bid to be taken but has failed to meet the reserve price. The seller is then contacted to see if the bid is acceptable.

What is and why do I pay a Buyer’s Indemnity Fee? A Buyer’s Indemnity Fee is charged in order to cover the buyer from the vehicle having any outstanding Hire Purchase Charges (Finance) or in the unlikely event that the vehicle is stolen. Buyer’s Indemnity Fees are as follows:
◾Sale price upto £249 = £70 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £250 to £499 = £88 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £500 to £749 = £110 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £750 to £999 = £135 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £1000 to £1499 = £160 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £1500 to £1999 = £180 Indemnity fee
◾Sale price £2000+ = £200 Indemnity fee (plus £10 per £1000 thereafter)

Are there any fees for purchasing via the Live Bid auction? Yes, there is a additional fee when purchasing through Live Bid (Introductory offer only £15 + VAT).

Some vehicles are sold without documents. Why? Many of the auction accounts are fleet operators with cars and commercials, so to wait for such companies to send the documents from head office, may take weeks, therefore to avoid disappointment the vehicle may be sold without. You can apply for a duplicate logbook at any Post Office.

Does the auction sell commercial vehicles? Yes, commercial vehicles are sold alongside the cars in our usual auctions.

Is there anything I should know when buying a commercial vehicle? Remember some vans, etc, can carry VAT charged at the standard rate unless announced otherwise. All VAT Registered persons or companies can claim this back.

Can finance be arranged when buying at auction? No, there are very few auctions that arrange finance. However, there is nothing to stop you arranging your own finance.

Can I change my mind after I’ve bought a vehicle? No, a legal contract is entered into once the hammer has fallen. You will be asked for your name and address and asked to pay your cash deposit. Payment must be made by 12 noon the following day by cash, credit or debit card, bankers draft or building society cheque.

Can I buy a car on a non-auction day? Yes, you are welcome to view all vehicles at anytime during business hours and can buy a car on a non-auction day providing it has been through at least one auction sale.

How do I sell at auction? Bring your vehicle to auction on or before an auction day (or take advantage of our collection service) along with all documentation you have relating to the car (e.g. Logbook/V5, MOT, Service History etc). A simple entry form will require completing upon arrival, or can be downloaded by clicking here.
