WEPT (Women Empowerment Project & Training) is a recently established Community Interest Company (CIC), creating and administering projects that aim to promote women empowerment, training and sustainability. We work with leading practitioners to provide a programme of activities, events and access to information that will help and encourage people to consider improvements in their lives, through skills and personal development and well-being that will lead to self sustainability in the community.
Our work also utilises the role of art and the creative industries to empowering women to make their ideas happen, in order to further enhance their quality of life; and improve knowledge and appreciation of historic, cultural and traditional life in Wembley area of Brent
The primary outcomes of our activity are to:
• Improve access to beneficial information to enable self employment and sustainability
• Increase participation in healthy activities
• Widen the knowledge of methods to improve and sustain a healthier mindset and self sufficiency
• Supporting objectives of our work include:
• Increased awareness in creative, cultural and traditional art forms through the collaboration with other organisations
• Increased local participation and engagement in cross-community activities
Ultimately, this project will become not only an income-generating program but promote the economic advancement of women by providing them with skills to use sewing and craft as well as basic business skills. Many of these women will be able to use their new found/renewed skills to establish small businesses, sell their products within the community and support their families independently. Essentially, we believe that one of the most valuable things we can give these women is the opportunity for stable work and to be financially self-reliant.
