Established in 2010 Walkabout Pet Services is independently owned and managed by myself David Wilson, my business is based on the belief that my customers' and their pets needs are of the utmost importance and I am fully committed to meeting and exceeding those needs.

About me

I am a dog walker who offers professional dog walking services in Haxby, Wigginton, Strensall, Clifton Moor, Rawcliffe, Huntington and Earswick areas of York. I am fully insured as well as certified in Animal First Aid via the International Society of Animal Professionals (ISAP) Professional Dog Walker Diploma.

If you're like me, your pets are not only members of your family but your best and most loyal friends. When you can't be home for them, whether it's because of work or other obligations, you want them taken care of with the same level of love, care and attention that you give to them, that's exactly what I do, as your local friendly reliable dog walker in York.

I'm not only a person who loves dogs but I am a dog owner too. My best friend is my black labrador who takes her role in our dog walking business very seriously. She loves to play with her friends on our one hour walks around York. She especially likes to make new friends who she welcomes and helps to settle into our group walk experiences quickly.

My experience

My experience of dog walking and puppy socialising is not just from my own dog but also through voluntary work with the Beatrice Wright Training Centre, who train puppies to become hearing dogs for the deaf, it is a worthwhile charity that enables the lives of deaf people to be transformed through pet companionship. http://www.hearingdogs.org.uk/

I also hold certification for the Professional Dog Walker Diploma, Level 2, which is accredited by ISAP. http://www.is-ap.org/ The course content includes: Canine Anatomy, Form and Function, Canine Body Language, Canine Law, Canine First Aid and Canine Aggression.

I am CRB checked through the Police National Database and I am fully insured through Cliverton Insurance (copies available for inspection upon request).

Unlike some dog walking companies who just use a standard family car I use a van which is fitted out to carry dogs comfortably and more importantly securely in separate cages, it is fully ventilated and air conditioned to ensure no dog overheats during the summer months and fresh drinking water is carried on board at all times.
