More about Rebuilding Victoria Hall

The Victoria Halls has been somewhat of a focal point, recognisable and in prime location for almost 130 years since the buildings foundations were laid in 1887. Through the centuries the building has seen through wrack and ruin, waves of demolitions, potential plans and eventual closure in 1991. The town has never known any better than the Victoria Jubilee Hall which has stood prominent for years on end, seen through almost five generations and has stayed in it's current form, unused for 26 years. It was built as a tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Victoria for her Jubilee, a signal to the regal days of the Linlithgow Town Council to serve as a Town Hall for the people of the Royal Burgh Linlithgowshire. The Commercial Bank of Scotland building mimics the ornate turrets and elaborate designs that once shaped the building. To revitalise and resserect such an architecturally detailed building would be in any case an entitlement for the town to be recognised as a place for heritage. The Halls shapes the high street and is similar in materials to the Burgh Halls and County Buildings. It is a style of which should be embraced and rejuvenated to adhere to the architectural heyday that once followed, and that is the true aim of the Victoria Hall Heritage Protection and the Victoria Ritz Project that will be aimed to achieve through it.
