University of Essex Rugby Football Club

We are a highly competitive team, who always relish a challenge with a determined grin.

We currently have three squads. Our First and Second teams both compete in BUCS competitions against other Universities, whilst our 'Cavalry' development side plays in a local league against other amateur clubs in Saturday fixtures. This enables us to facilitate the needs of all player types, from lifelong rugby players, to casual players who have never played before!

We are serious about improving in the coming seasons and promoting an exciting brand of rugby which will see us move up the BUCS leagues and become a top University for Rugby Union.

On top of this we are one of the most inclusive and socially active groups on campus. We hold a post-match social every Wednesday which is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and regularly go on team days out for meals and trips away together, emphasising our extremely passionate 'work hard, play hard' philosophy. Our annual Rugby tour during the Easter holidays is an experience you will never forget.

Participation in a sport really completes the University experience and is a great way to meet new people. Players of all sizes and ability are welcome and we look forward to seeing you soon.
