The annual UK International Veterans’ Film Festival is dedicated to raising awareness about our serving and ex serving Armed Forces community, their families and the influences and impact war has on our society

Arguably, film is still the most powerful medium to create stories and put ideas out into the world. Now, more than ever before, it is possible for creativity to emerge and be shared.

The UIVFF is curated by a not for profit creative enterprise that engages, entertains and educates audiences by showcasing films made by creatives of all ages, cultures and abilities around the world.

The UIVFF program:

Our goal is to create a platform for:
Filmmakers:

To bring to life veterans’ stories and how war influences and impacts our society.
To showcase talent and compelling, moving, sometimes disturbing and funny stories.

Veterans:

To facilitate a greater opportunity to understand the lives of our veterans and their families, their struggles and successes.
To create platform that allows the chance to tell their own stories of loyalty, friendship, laughter, love and perhaps the hardest test of all, the fragility of life itself.
To illustrates the challenges veterans face as a civilian or still in service, day in, day out.

Audience:

To present culturally diverse stories, from the strange to shocking or humourous, to stories that are sad or uplifting.
To share stories that are harrowing, disturbing or inspiring; stories that show us a side of the human condition that so many of us will never see or experience – all through the medium of film.

Community:

To raise awareness about our veterans and their contribution and the influence and impact war has on our society.
To invite our community to think about how film provokes them and how relevant a film’s message is to them.

As a community, we are more likely to consider issues which can enrich and inform us, whilst being entertained. – it is an important journey that we all can share.
