UEA iGEM

We aim to use synthetic biology to create a biosensor for plant-pathogen interactions. The proposed biosensor could potentially aid farmers in the detection of infections in their crops and also the type or specific pathogen present; allowing them to conservatively spray herbicides. This could lead to an increased yield, which is important in providing enough food for the expanding population. The targeted use of herbicides will decrease the volume used and therefore reduce the cost and benefit the environment.
