Thetford Music Project is an after-school activity that offers school-aged children living in and around Thetford the opportunity to learn and perform a wide range of musical instruments, from flutes to guitars to African drums and much more.
Our half-hourly sessions run every Thursday in term time, from 4.00 – 6.30pm.
In addition, members can enjoy making music together in one of our many ensembles, such as Rock Band, Band or Singing Group.
We also run Foundation lessons for our younger and less experienced members. These sessions introduce children to the basic principles of music through games and activities whilst also giving them the chance to try their hand at different instruments.
TMP members regularly perform in concerts at our host venue, Bishops CEVA Primary School, Canterbury Way, IP24 1EB, as well as in the wider community, such as The Royal Norfolk Show and locally at the Carnegie Rooms in Thetford.
The Project was founded in 1999 as a charity and it is largely due to our generous sponsors that we are able to offer these musical opportunities at a considerably low rate.
Thetford Music Project is supported by Norfolk Music Service. http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/Childrens_services/Schools/Norfolk_music_service/index.htm
