The Subscription Rooms

The Subscription Rooms is a busy vibrant multi-purpose community arts centre in the heart of Stroud with first class facilities hosting year-round arts and entertainment, live music, concerts, dances, comedy, exhibitions, workshops, classes, markets and meetings. Built in 1833 by public subscription, the venue still plays an important part in community events. It is now owned and managed by Stroud District Council.
• The Ballroom accommodates up to 450 people and presents all kinds of events. The excellent acoustics and sprung dance floor make it a popular venue for live music, concerts, performances and dances.
• The George Room on the ground floor hosts regular exhibitions featuring a wealth of local artistic talent. There is also on offer a wide range of workshops and classes.
• The Café Bar serves a range of teas, coffees, cakes and light lunches. The fully licensed bar stocks a range of organic ciders, real ales and soft drinks, as well as wines and spirits. The Café Bar is an ideal place to relax and meet friends and catch the occasional free theatre or acoustic performance.
