Our story:

The St Lawrence Schools and Colleges story was not made overnight. It is a journey of a thousand miles that began with one step that we are proud of.

St. Lawrence popularly known as St.Law, consists of a large and well established institution with EIGHT self contained attractive and quite campuses , that is, Crown City campus, Creamland Campus, Horizon campus, London college, The Academy-St. Lawrence, Lorencia Junior School and Paris Palais college of St. Lawrence (pronounced as Pari-Pale), a bilingual campus and lately the newly opened Zabeti College of St. Lawrence. This very unique set up of St. Lawrence is the very first in the whole of East Africa if not Africa as a whole.**

KABAKA'S LAKE CAMPUS

On 15th march 1993, our Founder and Principal, Professor Lawrence Mukiibi (an icon in the Uganda’s education sector) started St Lawrence with six students at our mother campus. Originally called Progressive Citizens High School- Kabaka’s Lake, we later changed to St Lawrence Citizens High School- Kabaka’s Lake Campus.

The campus name Kabaka’s lake was derived from the adjacent traditional Kabaka’s lake in Lubaga, Mengo. Kabaka’s lake campus moved to the 120 acre Crown City campus at Katende to pave way for the St. Lawrence University (SLAU).

KABAKA'S LAKE CAMPUS NOW KNOWN AS CROWN CITY CAMPUS

In September 2005, St Lawrence Citizens High School- Kabaka’s lake campus shifted to a spacious Crown City campus at Katende, five minutes from the St Lawrence College-Paris Palais. Crown City is a Mixed Boarding, Ordinary & Advanced Level Learning Centre that emphasizes science education at the Advanced Level.

The St Lawrence Schools and Colleges are heavily indebted to the students of St Lawrence Citizens High School.

To maintain their attachment to Royalty, this campus was called CROWN CITY (Crown – a symbol of Royalty) and Students formerly called “Kabaka’s lakers” are now called “the Royals”.

CREAMLAND CAMPUS

By December 1993, St Lawrence overcame the small student enrolments and meagre resources . The Kabaka’s lake campus was full to operating capacity creating a need for more space. With our savings, the St Lawrence Citizens High School- Creamland Campus was started. Creamland campus, on 40 acres of land is a place for smart students with a penchant for creativity, ICT and Entrepreneurship. Dedicated to the Old Students of St Lawrence Schools And Colleges, Creamland campus was opened on 8th June 1997. It is an Advanced level, Arts only, mixed boarding school in Nabbingo , five minutes before or after the Horizon Campus. Students from this campus are called “Creamlanders”.

The Kabaka’s lake and the Creamland Campus continued to produce excellent students into other institutions of higher learning and universities raising internal and external pressures for a university. The idea of a university was great but premature at this point.

HORIZON CAMPUS

We proceeded to establish a girls only campus called the St. Lawrence Citizens High School- Horizon Campus. On 8th March 1999, the Horizon Campus was opened by the First Lady of Uganda, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni in celebration of Girl Child education in Uganda. Our dream to this day is to restore and maintain the dignity and integrity of the African woman. At the same time we aim to inspire the Girl Child to rise above the horizons and attain a bright future.

St Lawrence Horizon Campus, (our headquarters) on 45 acres of land is an Ordinary and Advanced level learning centre with emphasis on both Arts & Science studies. Students from this campus are called “Horizoners”.

Together, Crown City, Creamland and Horizon Campus are called the St Lawrence Schools.

LONDON COLLEGE OF ST. LAWRENCE

The London College of St Lawrence is the 4th campus of St Lawrence, on 60 acres of land and was sponsored by our friends in London, United Kingdom. London College of St Lawrence is a mixed boarding school meticulously designed to promote Ordinary and Advanced level learning- Arts and Science Studies. London College of St Lawrence, launched on 12th April 2002 but was officially opened by HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (President of the Republic of Uganda) on 14th October 2006 .

It is five minutes away from the Horizon and Creamland Campuses. Students from this campus are called “Londoners”.

ST LAWRENCE COLLEGE-PARIS PALAIS

In February 2005, St Lawrence opened the 5th campus- the St Lawrence College- Paris Palais, pronounced as ‘Pari Paale”. Sitting on 100 acres of land, a French flavoured, mixed boarding, Ordinary and Advanced level learning centre at Nsimbe and only five minutes before or after the London College of St Lawrence and Crown City.

St Lawrence College Paris Palais, celebrates international exposure and diversity – a place of limitless inspiration. Students from this campus are called “Parisiens” and their mode of communication is French.

The London College of St Lawrence and St Lawrence College – Paris Palais are called the St. Lawrence Colleges.

THE ACADEMY OF ST. LAWRENCE

The Academy of St Lawrence is the sixth campus and was opened in January 2013. This new centre of academic excellence was established out of the St Lawrence Corporate social Responsibility to educate students from our neighbouring towns. Located at Buddo (before Buddo Junior School), The Academy is a mixed Day and Boarding School with special emphasis on both Arts and Sciences.

For many years , we were faced with a tough question, After educating citizens from other countries, what strategy did St Lawrence have for students from Humble backgrounds? The Academy of St Lawrence is an answer to that and many more questions.
The St Lawrence Community welcomes the Academy of St Lawrence and going forward, we are now known as "THE ACADEMY, ST LAWRENCE SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES"

The Story Continues.....
Introducing LORENCIA JUNIOR SCHOOL

Lorencia Junior School is a Boys and Girls’ Day and Boarding Primary School located in Nsangi.

Formerly known as Nsangi Junior School, Lorencia was acquired by the Management of London College of St Lawrence at the close of 2013 to provide quality education and raise responsible Africans for a better tomorrow..

Our reason for this is to complete the Education Cycle… Primary to Secondary to University..

St Lawrence now a NINE Star center of Education will educate Students from across Africa from Lorencia Junior School to the seven secondary Schools at Crown City, Creamland, Horizon, London College, Paris Palais, the Academy St Lawrence, Zabeti Lawrence College through to the St Lawrence University (SLAU).

At this point (upon graduation from SLAU) we will release pragmatic entrepreneurs…
