The Pokey Hole Blues Club ran at three different venues in Lichfield during 1968 and 1969, firstly at The Prince of Wales in Bore Street, then at The Robin Hood, Wade Street, and finally at The Malt Shovel in Dam Street. Besides offering a first chance to play for many local bands and musicians, the club is notable for very early performances from legendary blues and progressive acts such as Medicine Head, Dog That Bit People, Indian Summer, Simon and Steve, Duffy Power and for hosting the first ever live performance of 'Black Sabbath' by the original Sabs line-up.
