The Plough Inn Wombleton

Wombleton village is recorded in the Doomsday survey of 1086 as Wilbetun. The Plough Inn is at the very heart of the village and welcomes all its customers, old and new, warmly. The Plough Inn, structurally one of the oldest buildings in the village, is cruck-framed encased and Grade II listed. Within these old walls you will find a beautifully rendered interior, designed for comfort and relaxation with log fires warming you the minute you enter. The dining rooms maintain a wealth of character (still in the original medieval cruck-framed structure) and are the perfect setting to enjoy the gourmet delights of our renowned chef Geoff Smith. For a more intimate party setting there is a private dining area which can seat twelve people comfortably.
The Plough Inn serves the local community both at the bar and on the football pitch with it's very own football team, the Wombleton Wanderers! It is actively involved in fundraising for the village sports field and values it's place in the community, playing host to village Cricket tournaments amongst other things. Locals and tourists alike enjoy dominos evenings as well as the infamous monthly quiz where teams can compete for hefty cash prizes. If you visit on a Tuesday evening you could be treated to an impromptu session of old American mountain music! And, there is even talk of a scrabble team!
As well as having the historic market towns Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside close by, Wombleton also serves three Caravan & Camping Parks, so it's the perfect base for exploring the North Yorks Moors and surrounding areas.
A well equipped recreational ground is only a short stroll from The Plough with a children’s playground and tennis court and home to the impressive village cricket. This family friendly establishment welcomes well behaved dogs to the bar area, also.
