The National Stone Centre a 50 acre site of Special Geological Scientific Interest offering outdoor and indoor activities for all and run by a small group of volunteers. It is set within six former limestone quarries in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and close to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Please note
The Discovery Centre will be closing on 24th December 2016 for approximately two months for re-furbishment. The National Stone Centre site will remain open to the public for their enjoyment as usual during this period. Please note that no facilities will be available whilst the Discovery Centre is closed. The Discovery Centre will re-open in March 2017 with a new exhibition, new re-located cafe, new educational area and new toilets. We hope you will come back to see and enjoy the new facilities next year.
