More about The Kirkgate

On the site of the Kirkgate bar, there has been a public house for over 200 years. It is situated a 2 minute walk from the main thoroughfare, Union Street, just next to Marischal College (used by the council since 2011), the second biggest granite building in the world.

As a result of it's extensive history, the set up is very traditional in appearance with a hardwood bar and gantry, which holds an extensive range of whiskeys and gins to sample. There are three screens positioned throughout the bar showing all manner of sport.

Monday night is a particualry busy night with the local darts teams competing in the league. A high quality performance can alsways be viewed as pocal pub teams fight it out. Saturday is another busy day as a result Aberdeen FC games. There is regularly a bus put on for home games at the nearby Pittodrie stadium for patrons of the Kirkgate to take then to and from the match. Post match discussions are always necessary when following the ups and downs of the Dons

The pub is co-owned by Colin Cameron and Neil Fotheringham, who also own the Bridge Bar in the city. There is a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere within the Kirkgate, created by both the staff and the locals.
