More about The KenLon Project

The Kenlon Project has been set up by Pastor McPherson and his wife after visiting the Ikorongo village in Kenya. While there they witnessed people living in adverse conditions which included no clean water, high level of poverty and there were hundreds of orphans. This project has been set up in order to provide aid, training and a sustainable home for the people of this village.

A team of us, led by Pastor McPherson and his wife, went to Kenya in December 2009, as we would on a regular basis, for evangelistic purposes. The area we went to was in the bush, Ikorongo. There is no electricity, no running water, no telephone and no proper toilet facilities. There we met a village of impoverish people trying to make a living in whatever way they can.

The first thing we noticed was that they didn’t have food or any real means to get any. Following along with the example set by Jesus, we had to meet the needs of the people before presenting the Love of God to them. Due of the lack of employment in that area, we thought we should ‘teach them how to fish’ as opposed to feeding them. As a result we were able to supply five sewing machines, an over-locker, several rolls of fabric, a roll of paper and all the necessary equipment to set up a sewing school; classes at this school has commenced since then and is continuing to go well.

Because of this gesture, these people have now got a livelihood and continues to make some sort of a living this way. The aim is to become self-sustained through selling whatever they make. The money will mainly purchase more materials and attempt to generate a profit in order to sustain lives.

There is only so much we could have done with the funds we had, which have now been depleted. In order for us to carry on this great work we desperately need your help. Your gifts will go a long way in making a better life for the people of this village, including the most vulnerable, the orphans.
