Holy Biscuit is an arts organisation based in Shieldfield, Newcastle, operating on the intersection of contemporary art, faith and community activity. More often than not these worlds function in their own spheres without much interest in or knowledge of each other. Holy Biscuit brings them together under one roof. HB is not a traditional church organisation but as a creative project of The Methodist Church curates and supports exhibitions, workshops and discussions as part of a contemporary arts programme which examines aspects of faith along with other social, political and cultural strands and themes.
Motivated by the rich history of the Methodist Church in the North East, The Holy Biscuit continues in this heritage of social involvement by programming exhibitions, events and workshops that investigate purpose, belonging and belief and their relationship with artistic practice. We also support artists and creative groups to promote their work through the provision of exhibition spaces.
The Holy Biscuit works with schools and universities, charities, churches, community groups, artistic collectives and other partners to deliver our vision and promote social cohesion through creative projects. We welcome collaborations with like-minded organisations or individuals.
