The present business at 128 Calder Street was established in 1987, taking over from a pre-existing business, which had been there since at least the 1940s possibly longer. Although the old machinery required updating, traditional methods of shoe repairing continued to be used to this day.
Soon after the shop opened, local dance teachers asked if hard shoe tips could be repaired. Initially fibre glass was used until experimentation with a composite material used in engineering proved to be a much more durable material which resists chipping and cracking. A postal service is available for hardshoe repairs.
