More about The Cherry House Restaurant

Situated in the picturesque village of Werrington just outside Peterborough, the building that now houses The Cherry House Restaurant was built in the mid 16th century. Built of local stone, the building is in the region of 400 years old and history has it used by Oliver Cromwell as a modern day equivalent of the Labour Party Campaign Headquarters as he and his cohorts plotted to overthrow the king.

The name derives from the original Cherry House which formed part of the Cherry Farm, well known for its famous ‘Werrington Cherries’.

From the outside, the Cherry House looks quintessentially English country cottage with a steep thatched roof, tiny windows & thick walls. It stands just a short drive from Peterborough's urban sprawl, but it could be a world away. Inside it doesn't disappoint, with low ceilings, exposed beams & inglenook fireplaces adding to the rustic feel of the place.

Andrew Corrick (Patron/Chef) has created an establishment that offers personalised attention with traditional hospitality, excellent service & a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

One last bit of history… Watch out for the resident ghost!
