The Art of the English Language

Our Philosophy

Every Student is treated as a unique individual. Not only are the students tested to ascertain their level of competence, they are also given the opportunity to choose three primary goals to concentrate on within the overall teaching program. The areas include: reading, listening comprehension, grammar, writing, pronunciation, spelling and dictation. We work as a team and my goal is to help the student maintain concentration throughout the lessons by combining art, film, music, role-playing, and literature. The overall experience therefore is not only educational it is creative and fun whilst exploring the language and culture of the English language. In addition to the scheduled lessons, the student will be provided with field trips to historic locations throughout Kent. The student will learn communication skills living with an English family and experiencing daily life for instance going to the movies, going out to dinner, shopping and meeting friends etc..

Prior to the student’s arrival, we maintain that the student and their family have contact with us. We will exchange email, phone numbers and mailing address and even Skype to open up communication between the families. I send the student photos of myself and family along with a cover letter to introduce us. The student will be encouraged to do the same so there is a true exchange of thoughts and interests already established.
Once the student arrives, they are provided with a private comfortable bedroom furnished with a desk and a DVD player for study purposes. We give them a safety tour of the home, and provide them with a home cooked meal to help them feel comfortable. The food that we offer is a combination of English traditional food and a variety of international dishes. We also offer delicious vegetarian meals.
