Taj Mahal was established as a family-run Indian restaurant over 55 years ago.

House specialties such as our Shahi Butter Chicken – Tikka Chicken in rich creamy butter sauce with peeled tomato, ground almonds, raisons and pistachio – and our Naga Raj Lamb – fiery hot lamb cooked with a delicious and unique herb and spice blend – were served alongside traditional favourites such as Masalas, Dupiazas and Kormas to create something everyone could enjoy.

We gained a commendable reputation for our unique and flavoursome Indian dishes and quickly began to build up a loyal customer base.

Now, over 55 years later, we have stayed true to our roots. We’re still family owned and family run and still use the finest ingredients available to create unique and interesting melt in the mouth Indian dishes for anyone to enjoy at any time.

That’s what helped us win our Leicester Mercury Best Family Restaurant award. And it’s what has kept our initial loyal customer base returning to Taj Mahal for over five decades.
