More about Tabley Tea Room

The Tabley Tea Room
Tabley Tea Room is full of character and history.
Originally called the Old Hall Room, it was built in 1929 by Cuthbert Leicester-Warren to connect the 17th Century Chapel to the Grade I listed Tabley House. The Chapel had been moved from a moated island on the estate to its current position in 1927 to save it from brine subsidence, whilst the14th Century Tabley Old Hall which was also on the island suffered a complete collapse.

Fortunately some items from Tabley Old Hall were saved and can still be seen in the Tea Room today. The fireplace surround dates from 1610 and with its symbolic wood carvings, provides a dramatic focal point. The many stained glass windows reflect centuries of history from past monarchs to members of the Leicester family, the original owners of Tabley.
