My Name is Steven Gonzalez and I have a passion for teaching! I trained at Trinity Conservatoire of music in London studying classical, jazz and pedagogy. Although I was trained as a concert pianist I am also a accomplished jazz musician and can play in the styles of - boogie, Ragtime, pop - these all feature in my lessons if you wish!
I have developed different types of techniques to ensure I can get the best out of your piano playing. I like to concentrate of different aspects of piano such as developing a good ear and technique as well as learning the dots! This approach has seen my students make rapid progress - some of which are at grade 8 level at the age of 14.
I teach exams (ABRSM, TRINITY), preparation for music festival competitions or even just for fun. Once you achieve a certain level of playing, one thing I am very passionate about is performing. As it is very important to perform as much as you can as a musician, I teach my students how to express their music and put it across to an audience to leave them in awe. To help further with this, I put on a yearly piano concert for my students to participate in if they wish where I also play to them as well.
I also offer theory lessons as you must reach grade 5 theory to continue with graded exams in the ABRSM syllabus after grade 5 practical.
The main emphasis in my lessons is constructive criticism in a positive way - meaning I will comment on where my students need improvement but keep them motivated at the same time by always being positive, I would never say something is rubbish even if it needs a big improvement as being able to play anything on the piano is an achievement in itself!
I teach 4 year olds to adults, from beginners to beyond!. Anyone who has been traumatised from previous experiences, I can assure you after having lesson with me all of that will be in the past and you will see piano in a positive light again!
