We put dogs at the center of everything we do, although its important your much loved dog looks and smells fantastic when they leave us, we will always put the dogs needs and comfort first.

This is particularly true in the case of matted dogs. We will not de-matt any dogs we deem to be too matted or too sensitive to brush out and in these case the only humane option it to shave the dog down and let the fur re-grow.
if you think you dog is matted its vitally important to bring them in for an appointment as soon as you possibly can. Mats in a dogs fur can more painful the longer they are left and in extreme case can cut off blood circulation and tear the skin underneath leading to infection and possible amputation of limbs etc.

Although Fido may look a little silly for a few weeks its vitally important matting is dealt with as soon as possible!


Second to this - prevention is always better than cure and the best way to keep your dog happy and without pain is learning how to brush him and what to brush him with!

this may sound silly - but a lot of owners struggle to know where to start and with what brushes especially on a wiggly puppy! whether your a regular client to Starbarks or not feel free to drop in at anytime with questions about brushing your dog, we stock a small selection of brushes but if we don't have what you need we will always advise you the best place to purchase them!

Although brushing at home is of he utmost importance its also important to bring your dog to be groomed regularly! most dogs need to be professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks for average sized dogs and around every 12 weeks for larger dogs with shedding undercoat but we can advise you on as appropriate grooming schedule for your individual dog.
