Polish Ex-Combatants’ Association in the UK, called SPK, is one of the largest Polish organisation. It was formed in 1946 by Polish soldiers who arrived to the UK after the 2nd World War and could not come back to their homeland because of repressions. SPK in Bristol was formed on 15 Aug 1947.
SPK in the UK is a part of the World Federation of Polish Ex-Combatants’ Association. At this moment SPK has over 15000 members around the world and over 3000 members in the UK.
After 2004, when Poland joined EU many new comers became the members of organisation. In Bristol there are 145 members of SPK. Before 2004 there were 118 members.
SPK in Bristol is also the owner of the Club. The club is available for everyone, not for the SPK members only.
