South Beech Veterinary Surgery

We have been looking after the health and wellbeing of pets in Wickford and the surrounding areas for over 30 years. We aim to provide the highest standard of pet health care and encourage prevention as well as treatment. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services to enhance the wellbeing of our patients. In addition to treating dogs, cats and small furies we have a special interest in exotic animal medicine. We treat a wide range of pets from lizards and tortoises to parrots and chickens.

We are a fully equipped practice, able to deal with all first opinion companion animal cases and provide a full range of medical and surgical services.

Veterinary care of exotic species is a specialised field of veterinary medicine. We have experienced nurses trained in exotic animal nursing. The exotic service for small mammals, birds and reptiles is run by Carsten Butz MRCVS.

We are an RCVS accredited Tier 2 small animal practice, which means that you can be sure that your pets are in good hands as our practice meets or exceeds the stringent standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Consulting Hours
For your convenience, all consultations are by appointment only. This helps to reduce the time you and your pet have to wait. Emergencies are seen immediately.

8.30am – 6.45pm Monday to Friday
8.30am – 3.15pm Saturday

Out of Hours Emergency arrangements
It is not possible for vets and nurses to work effectively during the night and then continue with a normal days work. It is safer and better for your pet to visit a veterinary accident and emergency unit out of hours.
We delegate our new cases out-of-hours to Earls Hall Veterinary Group emergency service who are located in Westcliff-On-Sea, Essex. In the event of an emergency - Please telephone the normal practice number and follow the instructions given.

In-patient care
At South Beech we do not generally hospitalise patients that require overnight medical supervision. However we do occasionally keep in patients who simply need to board overnight and do not require medical care. These patients will be checked at 7pm and at 8am, but not in-between. Animals requiring 24 hour monitoring will usually be transferred to Earls Hall Veterinary Group, Westcliff-On-Sea.
