Smarter Accounting

Traditionally firms of accountants and advisers are conservative and inflexible in changing services to meet customer needs.

Many potential clients perceive their accountant as being unapproachable, and are scared to talk to them. They also have no idea of the fee until they receive the invoice after the work has been completed.

These views of the traditional accountant are exactly what Shaun thought he could change. You’ll find Smarter Accounting to be exactly the opposite of those things. Shaun’s background was not in practice, his experience and training came from the Private and Public Sector. He gained his qualifications (to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) whilst working in the public sector, but then cut his teeth in the manufacturing sector, working as both a Financial Controller and Finance Director for a couple of local companies. This “FD” background really helps to explain where Shaun’s views come from.

Other practice accountants prepare year end accounts and tax returns, in Shaun’s world this is the backward looking stuff, yes it must be done, but looking forward is where we should concentrate. Therefore tax planning, cash planning, business planning, help and advice is where we want to be seen as market leaders.

We have two offices, Crediton and Teignmouth. The offices further demonstrate the Smarter image and are bright, airy and open.

At Crediton we have Neil Bishop. Neil has worked in practice for over 25 years. The office opened in early April 2010.
