Improving quality of life and swallowing function in patients with head and neck cancer: Development and feasibility of a Swallowing Intervention Package (SiP)
Head and Neck Cancer affects over 6500 people in Scotland. The number of people diagnosed is expected to rise within the next decade. Treatment often involves surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy all of which can lead to severe side effects including swallowing difficulties, which can have a significant impact on quality of life.
The SiP study aims to develop and test a range of swallowing exercises which we hope will improve swallowing and therefore quality of life in the longer term.
This study is designed around patients' experience by fostering patient and professional collaboration, We hope to achieve results that can be evaluated and implemented on a much wider scale.
