To provide a holistic, high quality service, including running a refuge, outreach and resettlement service, diverse activities and training other agencies, supporting BAMER women and their children on issues they face, and campaigning for their rights, leading to them achieving emotional and practical well-being.

Saheli gives women a chance to get away from violent domestic situations by providing an environment which is safe, culturally familiar and which helps them come to a decision of their own – whether it is one of reconciliation or coming to terms with being a single parent and living independently.

The work of Saheli is as follows:
1. To provide temporary refuge for women and their children who have left their homes due to domestic violence.
2. To ensure security of accommodation.
3. To provide counselling and practical support to women with in the refuge.
4. To provide care and support for the children of women within the refuge.
5. To provide aftercare support to women and their children who have left the refuge.
6. To provide advice and information to women suffering from domestic violence.
7. To maintain a strictly confidential service.
8. To support women in whatever decision they make regarding their future, whether they decide to return to their partners or whether they decide to set up independently.
9. For reasons of safety and security, Saheli will not work with women’s partner or family.
