Rushbanks Farm

Rushbanks Farm is a minimum facility site. It is the only official site on the banks of the River Stour and is very suitable for boaters and canoeists. Tents, Caravans and Campers are all welcome.

A public footpath crosses the farm and there are possibilities of several walks.

The river here is wide and deep and there is about a mile and a half of unobstructed water. Downstream two step weir portages lead to the Anchor at Nayland and upstream two more portages have to be negotiated to reach Bures. This part of the river is probably the quietest and most attractive section of the whole navigation. There are several landing stages and launching over the bank is easy.

It is a very quiet site run by Gareth & James Bates.

Campfires are allowed with fire pits for rent and logs for sale.

Facilities:

On site there are separate toilets for men and women & portable showers available. There is an outdoor sink for washing dishes and a chemical disposal point for caravans.

Travel arrangements:

The farm is situated on the Suffolk Bank between Bures and Nayland on Bures Road. From Colchester take the A134 to Nayland. At Nayland turn left, Sign posted "Bures", follow the road for about two kms past a left hand lane sign posted "Wissington Church", there is a group of cottages on the left and a sign to the campsite, go through a gate and follow the farm track down to the waterside.
