The department is active in both research and teaching with a busy MSc course in Translational Neuroimaging. The main research interests of the department are:
• Neurodegeneration – MRI biomarkers of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer diseases
• Stroke/TIA – Neuroimaging markers to predict risk of recurrent stroke/ outcome
• Multiple Sclerosis – Advanced MRI to improve radio-clinical correlation
• Mental health/Pain – Neurobiological basis, Neuroimaging of drug effects/ stress effects
• Cancer – Imaging biomarkers of aggressiveness and response prediction
• Biodistribution studies
• Osteoarthritis – MRI biomarkers predicting pain
Radiological Sciences has close research links with other groups both within and outside the School of Clinical Sciences, in particular the Arthritis Research UK National Pain Centre, Neurosciences@Nottingham Group, Sir Peter Mansfield MR Centre and BRU Gastroenterology.
