Progress in the education sector is moving apace, changing all the time. It's hard for us as adults to keep up with the changes, let alone children. However, because these changes can take place from one term to another, it can lead to confusion, creating the possibility for significant gaps in learning.

Purple Phoenix Tutoring believes passionately in ensuring children have a solid foundation on which to build further learning. We thoroughly assess the children that we work with which allows us to create a bespoke learning experience targeting any gaps or barriers to learning.

For many children, education has narrowed as teachers work harder and harder to get higher and higher results at the end of each Key Stage, chasing targets. In many cases, in order to ensure children can answer the questions that will get marks at a higher level, they are taught how to answer those questions, with less emphasis on comprehensive understanding.

Purple Phoenix Tutoring understands the need for dialogue with the children we work with. Learning is relaxed with an emphasis on encouragement to self-check and edit, to explain their own understanding and to make connections with previous learning.

Learning should be a positive experience, one that any child would choose to continue of their own volition. Alongside this, children should be taught the importance of resilience, to understand that it is acceptable to make mistakes as long as you can recognise them, what is important is to continue moving forward on their learning journey.
