Private Spanish Lessons

Five years ago my daughter and I left our home country, Colombia, to come to live with my English husband. I used to be a teacher there, I worked with children from 6 years old until 16. When I came here first I did not speak English and I started to learn on my own, with my husband and my daughter and also I went to the College in Yeovil and Phoenix School. It was there where I stared this process to learn a second language. I have great passion for teaching my language (Spanish). And now I I understand from my own experience the needs, fears and methodology used to learn a second language and can get better results.

I will work in different levels such as:

Spanish Conversation for Intermediate Learners, designed for those who speak Spanish with relative ease and would like to perfect their vocabulary, fluency and debate skills.

Pre-Advanced Spanish Grammar class designed for (Pre Advanced and Advanced) who speak Spanish with fluency but want to focus in grammatical issues that take accuracy away from their language skills.

Pre-Intermediate I During these Spanish lessons you will learn: to consolidate the skills acquired to talk about the frequency in which we perform different activities to tell recent past events to refer experiences in your life and react to others’ stories with interest or surprise to talk about your biography and the biography of famous people...

Pre-Intermediate II You will learn: to narrate experiences in your life in details: recent past events vs. distant past events to refer to your body and explain health issues to talk about emotions and moods to compare situations, places, people; now and in the past to talk about habits, customs and circumstances in the past....

Intermediate I You will learn: to consolidate the skills acquired in the Pre-Intermediate level to express the causes and consequences of an event to talk about actions completed in the future to express probability to express intentionality to make polite requests to make formal and informal phone calls.

Beginner I: During these Spanish lessons you will learn: to greet and open conversations in Spanish to introduce yourself to ask and answer basic questions (phone number, email, hobbies, nationality, etc) to describe professions, physical and personality traits of people and family to acquire information in class Your Spanish language skills at the beginning of this course: None or perhaps a few phrases.

Beginner III: You will learn: to talk about basic daily routines in specific times to express likes and dislikes and to agree and disagree with others’ likes to make a preferred choice to talk about the wether, to buy clothes in a shop to get around a city and ask and give directions, to introduce others to give and ask the time and the date, to talk about basic daily routines, to ask general questions about transportation, tickets and schedules, to order food in a restaurant, to buy food in a market or shop to book a room in a hotel...

Also The Bilingual Literary party to celebrate the art, literature and culture of Latin America. This is not a highbrow, serious kind of event, this is a party with friends, an opportunity to share and have a great time together while enjoying:
– live Latin America music.
– readings of narrative and poetry by established Latin/Spanish writers as well as readings of works in translation (Spanish to English), or works in English with a Spanish/Latin.
– theatre
– photography
– and other surprises!

Monthly Spanish Film Nights: one day of each month join us for a chat, a drink and amazing Spanish & Latin street food, and enjoy a great film. Come watch the film with English subtitles. Every body is welcome.

Spanish for children: This is an Open House event that will allow you and your children to know how amazing it is to learn Spanish. There will be Spanish session for children of all ages. They are welcome when they are in Holliday as well.
