ACCESS TO THE COURSE
During the Summer Academy members are allowed to play from 1.00 pm but must sign into the Pro shop before play. They are allowed to bring up to three guests at the appropriate Member’s Guest rate, payable before play. When the clocks change for Winter the play may commence at 12.00 noon. Morning play is not permitted unless invited to play as a Member’s Guest and paying the Guest green fee.
Play in Academy competitions may require a small entry fee to be used for prizes and the green fee will either be one of your allocated rounds or a guest green fee.
If an Academy member uses all of their allocated rounds they may purchase additional rounds at the members guest rate or as a block of 10 for £150.
HANDICAPS and COMPETITIONS (GENERAL).
If an Academy member does not have a CONGU handicap they are entitled to gain a handicap with Piltdown as their Home club. The maximum handicap for Men is 28 and 36 for Ladies. To achieve a valid handicap they must submit three cards signed by a golfer who has a valid handicap and must indicate which tee they have played from. All cards are treated as Stableford scores and no score more than 2 above par (men) or 3 above par (ladies) needs to be recorded. A nil score on a hole is treated as 0 points. To hold a CONGU handicap Academy members will be liable for the Affiliation Fee to the County and England Golf and will be separately billed for this at the start of the calendar year.
If an Academy member already has a valid CONGU handicap and plays in a Qualifying competition here they must register their score with their Home club. The Secretary will assist players to achieve this.
We arrange some afternoon fun and social competitions for all Academy members and we hope to designate certain Qualifying competitions for Refresher and Advanced members with handicaps.
CHANGE TO FULL MEMBERSHIP
If an Academy member wishes to move to Full membership the Entrance Fee will be discounted by £200 and the actual period of Academy membership taken into account to establish any credit for the unexpired portion. ** For 2015 the Entrance Fee of £1000 has been reduced to £500.
