Penny Taylor School of Dancing

Penny Taylor took over the school from Sallie Lewis, a soloist with the Royal Ballet Company and children’s examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance, on 5th September 1987. The school has previously been housed in several locations: All Saints Church Hall, Holy Trinity Church Hall, The Blackheath Concert Halls and finally at Kingswood Halls.

Penny began her dance training in Sydenham at the Royce Academy of Dancing and continued there when Sallie took over the school. She also studied with Herida May and Valerie Taylor at the Royal Academy of Dance, and continued her ballet training with various teachers, including Debra Wayne, to gain The Teaching Certificate & Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance.

As a fully registered RAD teacher, Penny’s students have maintained a 100% pass rate in Royal Academy of Dance examinations from Pre- Primary in Dance to Advanced Two with great success.

Penny has an association with SPSDS in bromley where she teaches the RAD Vocational work.
Penny is committed to keeping her teaching methods up to date, so she regularly attends Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses held by the RAD. Penny has a current First Aid Certificate and has an up to date Enhanced Disclosure conducted by Due Diligence Checking (DDC).

Former pupils have gone on to further their dance education at Central School of Ballet, Stella Mann, Laban and London Studio Centre. Ex-Pupils have also gone on to perform and teach.

Penny has also been a member of the RAD for 40 years earning her life membership.
