Ocean Tech

Ocean Tech is a registered Bermuda non profit organisation that delivers collaborative marine research missions with global education programmes and media campaigns around the world. The organization is currently fundraising for its 2018 Bermuda mission. The Ocean Tech vision is to bring together the world’s top marine scientists with unique underwater vehicles that are capable of autonomously following and filming iconic marine species.

The Ocean Tech mission is to use these vehicles to reveal the details behind a species dependency to a specific marine environment. The team will then deliver the vehicle data to local governments in order to justify marine protected areas.

The waters around Bermuda play a vital role to the lives of many marine species including Galapagos sharks, dusky sharks, tiger sharks, spotted eagle rays, giant tarpon and humpback whales. For the first time, by using sensors, scanners and virtual reality cameras attached to the Ocean Tech vehicles the team will be able to answer crucial scientific questions to help justify the need for greater marine protection.
