In partnership with Le Petit Chateau we provide ideal and extremely convenient accommodation for wedding party guests, at a reasonable price.

We are also open for bookings from those visiting this beautiful part of the Northumberland countryside for other recreational purposes.

Oak Tree Barns have been sympathetically converted retaining original features from 18th century stone barns to very high standard accommodations, and comprise:

Oak Tree Cottage - 1 double bedroom, 1 sofa bed - sleeps 4

Oak Tree Barn - 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom - sleeps 4

Oak Tree Lodge - 1 double bedroom - sleeps 2

Oak Tree Barns may be booked individually, or together in any combination, sleeping up to 10 guests, to provide the perfect solution for your accommodation whilst visiting Otterburn.

Oak Tree Barn and Oak Tree Lodge have wood burning stoves. All properties have quality, quick action, electric heating/hot water, supplying kitchen, and bathrooms with bath and shower.

Each property is fully equipped to a high standard and has it’s own detached garden, with that of Oak Tree Lodge also being enclosed; perhaps making it first choice for dog owners. Garden furniture is contained within each property.

Local Area

Otterburn sits on the edge of the National Park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is approximately 20 minutes from Kielder Water, and a short drive from Hadrian’s Wall.

The village, once the site of the famous 1388 victory of the Scots over the English, nestles close to the banks of the River Rede between the hills and the moors overlooking the North Tyne Valley.

With pretty walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as local fishing, horse riding, golf and a friendly village shop/cafe, this is a superb location for a relaxing holiday any time of the year.

The village was once the home of a busy weaving industry and houses Otterburn Mill, an eclectic and fascinating store which marks the village’s historic past and is a great venue for morning coffee or afternoon tea.

The location has easy access to the Northumberland coast with miles of unspoilt and uncrowded golden beaches and an outstanding coastline peppered with castles and friendly locals. The famous Alnwick Castle was used in the filming of Harry Potter and is only 26 miles away. In Alnwick, you can lunch in the famous Treehouse Restaurant, visit the enchanting water gardens or simply stroll the cobbled streets and soak up the history.

Northumberland's western edges contain some of its most spectacular destinations, and the Kielder and Redesdale region is no exception. While the countryside is remote, and all the more beautiful for that, there is a wealth of activities on offer for everyone.

Kielder Water & Forest Park is the site of Northern Europe's largest man-made lake. There are also acres of forest to explore. Purpose-built walking trails create perfect forest walks to see a wide range of rare wildlife including the native red squirrels, deer, otters and badgers.

Dedicated mountain bike tracks including a bike skills area scatter the area. Water sports enthusiasts can take to Kielder Water from Easter to October and the lake offers a great challenge to keen trout anglers between March and October.

However if a relaxing stroll is more your thing, you can strike out on your own and explore Wild Redesdale, a great place just to enjoy nature in its most natural form, following in the footsteps of the Romans while hearing the call of Moorland birds.

Otterburn is also ideally placed for exploring the rest of Northumberland, Cumbria, Hadrian's Wall Country and the Scottish Borders.
