Nottingham Riverside Festival Dragon Boat Challenge - Gable Events

Now in its 10th year, The Nottingham Riverside Festival Dragon Boat Challenge is recognised as one of the most popular corporate team-building events in the East Midlands, attracting over 30 teams last year from companies and organisations across the region. The 2018 Challenge will again be raising funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and entered teams are encouraged to raise sponsorship for this fantastic charity.

Teams of up to 11 people are invited to take part, no previous experience is required and all equipment including the magnificent 30’ dragon boats, paddles and safety jackets is provided – all you need to worry about is getting a team together to join in the fun! Up to 52 teams will battle it out during the day aiming to become the champions, with each team taking on the 200m course at least three times, followed by semi-finals and a final between the fastest teams to determine the winners. However, if your paddling prowess isn’t Olympic standard all is not lost as there are also prizes for the best-dressed crew, the highest-placed mixed crew and the crew that raises the most money for Rainbows Hospice.

The Challenge is part of the annual Nottingham Riverside Festival organised by Nottingham City Council so there is plenty to do on the bank including a large funfair plus music, dance, crafts and food from around the world and, with media partners Nottz TV and Business Link East Midlands, the Challenge is always extremely well attended and a great day out for everyone.

Your safety is paramount and all of our events are supervised by experienced staff including the qualified helms that steer the boats. We carry £10m public liability insurance, adhere to all recommended codes of practice and health & safety guidelines and are approved by the sport’s governing body (The British Dragon Boat Racing Association).
