We are one of the leading respiratory research units in the UK and the Respiratory Theme the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre.

Our organisation is a collaboration between Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham. In addition, we are very grateful for the support overtime from Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Our funders give us the support to facilitate the translational respiratory research.

Our team consists of both academic and clinical researchers. Highly skilled and experienced nurses and administrative staff make up an exceptional team.

We have close links on respiratory themes with researchers within other research groupings in Nottingham such as epidemiology, molecular microbiology, drug discovery, allergy, immunology and child health.

We are also part of several major national/international collaborations (eg MRCMAP COPD, NIHR TRP in inflammatory diseases and UBIOPRED IMI consortia working closely with industry and major academic institutions and also host the National Centre for research into lymphangiolyomyomatosis (LAM).

WHAT DO WE DO

The NRRU is dedicated to delivering high quality, patient-centred research, in order to advance knowledge and improve health outcomes for people with respiratory conditions such as Asthma, COPD and IPF.

By Integrating research with clinical care has established us as one of the leading respiratory research units in the UK, with a proven track record of successful participant recruitment and positive participant experience.
