More about Netham Park Disc Golf

We are currently playing a target course around Netham park, we have around twelve targets which we can play in a number of ways to make the course more or less challenging.

What is Disc Golf?
Just like traditional golf, the object of the game is to complete each hole in as few shots as possible. With disc golf you throw a flying disc / Frisbee® rather than hit a ball, wherever your disc lands, that's where you make your next throw, and to complete a hole you must land the disc in an elevated metal basket. Disc Golf can be enjoyed by any age, making it an excellent sport for all the family. It's easy to play at a basic level, so you can enjoy it from day one. It's easy on the pocket too, the average golf disc costing around £7 to £15 so you can still play if you have a tight budget. If you are interested in playing please feel free to contact us via our facebook group (Netham Park Disc Gold Club)

Like ball golf, we use a lot of the same terminology as traditional golf. There is a teeing area where you make your first throw or 'drive'; then you make another shot and so on until you are close enough to make your 'putt' into the Basket.

Who Plays Disc Golf?

There are thousands of disc golf courses around the world - it truly is an international sport!

Golf discs are quite different to your usual throw and catch recreational Frisbee®. They are small, but relatively heavy, and have a slim aerodynamic profile.
Some discs are designed to turn right, some turn left, and some even fly straight!

Beginners should start with just an 'approach' disc or 'putter' which is more stable than the other disc’s? So you can develop your technique and move up to a mid range then a driver.

Goal..
We would like to now start the process to make Netham Park Disc Golf club part of the tour on the B.D.G.A and get more people playing the game. To do this we need to get permanent baskets around the park.
