More about National Trust Coleridge Cottage

This house has had a varied history, from its humble beginnings as a Georgian cottage to a Victorian inn, before it was acquired for the National Trust in 1909. A major re-presentation project in 2011 transformed Coleridge Cottage into the home Samuel Taylor Coleridge might have known, with the original 18th century rooms dressed as though the Coleridge family had just walked out of them. It was during his time in Somerset that Coleridge wrote his finest work, including 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner', 'Frost at Midnight' and Kubla Khan.
