Music Tots

Run by experienced musician and singing teacher, Alice Coram, Music Tots classes are designed to develop musical skills and enjoyment as well as build parents' confidence to make music with their children at home. Of course, this process has a lot of other beneficial side effects including bonding time, improvements in literacy and numeracy skills and, most importantly, fun.

In the baby classes, our primary tools are our own voices. We also use suitable percussion instruments. visual stimulation, movement and, occasionally, recorded music. As children progress through the age levels, we add their own voices to the process, encouraging them to express themselves in songs, rhymes, with their own actions or movement and with simple percussion instruments.

Alice has studied music and music education at The Birmingham Conservatoire (Birmingham, UK) and The Kodaly Institute (Kecskemet, Hungary). She has been teaching singing and coaching young choirs for over a decade as well as working in schools as a peripatetic music teacher. She has two small children herself, aged 4 and 1.

All classes will run on a Monday morning at the Little Oaks Sure Start Centre and again on a Friday afternoon in the Romsey Abbey Church Rooms, starting in January.
