More about Middlesex 7s Festival

The Middlesex 7s Festival brings the best of 7s rugby to Richmond. This year the event returns on Sunday 30th April at Richmond Athletic Ground.

Middlesex Rugby is taking its traditional end-of-season 7s competition back to its festival roots and embracing the flavour of modern 7s rugby with competitions at all levels from serious to social and more prizes, as well as plenty of food and drink, picnicking, partying and non-stop play across seven pitches.

More than 60 teams are expected to compete, with competitions ranging from a national to merit table level. The Festival will host the regional qualifier for RFU National 24/Sevens, meaning that open teams such as those competing at Summer Social, Rugby Rocks or Bournemouth 7s are now able to participate in the legendary Middlesex 7s.

The addition of a Super BUCS 7s and an In2Touch mixed touch rugby event widens the appeal still further, and helps to make the Middlesex 7s Festival the biggest and most comprehensive 7-a-side club competition.

Sevens rugby forms an important part of the RFU’s strategy to develop the community game in all its formats. “We are delighted to be associated with the Middlesex 7s Festival,” says RFU player development officer Dan Whiteman. “The competition is a tried and tested 7s event with a huge following, so it makes perfect sense to combine the RFU 7s Series with the Middlesex event.”

The Middlesex 7s Festival is a Middlesex Rugby event. The Festival grew out of the invitation Sevens tournament, first held in 1926, which is one of the oldest Sevens competitions in England.
