In 1970 Arthur Jones developed and sold the first Nautilus exercise machine designed to strengthen the torso muscles, sparking a revolution in health and fitness. This was the first strength-building machine on the market to use eccentric cams to provide variable, balanced resistance against the full range of motion. Arthur Jones sold Nautilas in 1986 and founded MEDX.
MEDX was founded to perfect the testing of human strength, endurance and range of motion. After years of development and testing, validated by research teams at the Universal of Florida, MEDX perfected its Medical Lumbar Extension machine. Other machines followed. MEDX applied the knowledge gained from its medical machines to the design of a full-line of exercise only machines.
When properly performed, strength training can provide significant increases in strength, size, endurance, bone growth, flexibility and other markers for improved health and function. MEDX is the most technologically advanced fitness, medical/rehabilitation equipment available.
